MISCHA Barton is Hollywood's latest "It" girl to be heading our way after stepping in as special guest for this week's MTV Australia Awards.
This follows an MTV tradition of bringing out young starlets such as Ashlee Simpson, Fergie and Sophie Monk.
Barton says that although she's thrilled to be heading to Australia for the second time, she's a bit uncomfortable with the "It'' girl label.
"It is a bit silly,'' Barton told Insider in an exclusive chat from her new apartment in Paris.
"But it's nice that I get to come to Australia and that there are fans there. It's not a trip I get to make every day.''
The star of the hit American TV show The OC and films including St Trinian's, Closing The Ring, The Sixth Sense and Notting Hill will arrive in Sydney on Wednesday.
Although the MTV Awards will be hosted by Wyclef Jean, Barton will announce the gong for best movie star.
"I should be there quite a few days,'' she said. "I'll get to hang out a bit. I never get to spend much time in Sydney.''
Despite being just 22, Barton has earned a reputation for being one of Hollywood's young style icons.
Her visit will coincide with Rosemount Australia Fashion Week, so she may pop up in the front row at a show.
